September 2020 VISUAL FASHION ARTIST MARY MARTIN LONDON EXCELLENTLY BLACK FOR BLACK HISTORY MONTH

Visual fashion artist Mary Martin simply has designing and creative visualization in her blood. Pre-corona, post-corona, during corona – regardless of the times, the immense force and drive behind her brand Mary Martin London is quite special. South London based, London College of Contemporary Arts graduate Mary Martin has been showcasing her brand internationally for a few years but perhaps is not widely known as she deserves to be. This is about to change.

Each season, Mary Martin London pushes the boundaries of haute couture and recognition of her talents has now come about by way of her most recent collection, “The Return – Black Excellence” shot in the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office for Black History Month. Mary is the very first black designer to have shot a collection in this historical building. Mary’s pieces are nothing short of spectacular - wide, strong, powerful, exaggerated yet royal in their presentation. Mary Martin is very selective with her team and has selected a group of all-black creatives which includes a former ballerina, a gym buddy, a former contestant for Miss World and a male model who also doubles for Usain Bolt! “My team are so important to me, its important that the energy around me is positive always. I don’t mingle with negativity!” Mary shouts powerfully, with a tone of unquestionable determination, which has seen Mary work with an almost immeasurable work ethic over the past six years. “I love what I do and no one is going to stop me from achieving my dreams. Mary Martin London is here to stay, now and forever!”. We are certainly not going to argue.

Mary in addition to being a visual fashion artist, has also long been heavily involved in her local community. Her spices can often be smelt outside of her house as she prepares her specialty, African dish Jollof rice for members of the community. Mary is also a mentor to disadvantaged young adults within the local community and also in the running’s to becoming a couneign Officecilor for her local borough also. 

There is simply no stopping Mary Martin. A kind creative who wishes for her creativity to be noticed and felt by all. Mary Martin like many of us recently has felt the struggle but has persevered to create this simply wonderful collection. Mary Martin London will no doubt remain on the fashion scene now and for years to come, during which she’ll continue to be powerfully altruistic force to be reckoned within the fashion (and of course local!) community. We look forward to seeing more.
